In response to concerns on the recent incident, effecting the North Bay Service Zone A, which resulted in the release of a concentration of potassium permanganate into the water distribution system. This may have resulted in pink/purple coloring. We understand that this incident has caused concern among our customers and we want to assure you that we are taking all necessary measures to rectify the situation.

Our team has been working diligently since the incident to remove the excess potassium permanganate from the water supply, which may be why you have not heard from them yet, if you left a message.

We would like to first clarify that potassium permanganate is a commonly used chemical in water treatment and poses no immediate health risks to our customers. However, we understand that the discoloration of water caused by the presence of potassium permanganate can be alarming.

The incident was identified quickly however some of the concentration made it to the reservoir. Starting at 2 pm on 4/3, we are currently flushing the reservoir.
We take our responsibility to provide safe and reliable water services to our customers seriously and will continue to monitor the situation closely. We apologize for any inconvenience caused and want to reassure our customers that we are committed to resolving the issue as quickly as possible.

If you are experiencing colored water please flush your water for 10 minutes or until it clears. If it does not clear, please call Jason White, OWSI Operations Supervisor at 360-301-3217 (cell).
