The Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission (UTC) has approved a temporary rate surcharge (Docket UW-240948) for Olympic Water and Sewer, Inc. (OWSI) to recover $252,077.96 over 24 months. The surcharge is effective February 17, 2025 and expires February 17, 2027 or upon recovery of the $252,077.96, whichever occurs first.
The surcharge will help fund an ice pigging process to remove iron and manganese buildup in the water system, improving water clarity and reducing staining. We anticipate the Ice Pigging to occur later this summer.
Customer Payment Options:
- Option 1: A one-time payment of $135.81 by May 17, 2025, to avoid interest charges in the second year. If you want to use this option, it will need to be paid by check as it will not go through the billing process and be placed in the surcharge account.
- Option 2: Bi-monthly payments added to your regular water bill:
- Year 1: $11.32 ($5.66 monthly)
- Year 2: $12.40 ($6.20 monthly)
This surcharge follows the same payment and collection rules as other charges in our approved Tariff. A copy of the Tariff sheet related to this surcharge is included below.
