Dear Customer
We are pleased to invite you to our Townhall on October 31, 2024 at the Beach Club from 10 am to noon.
This meeting will provide updates on several key projects we’ve been working on, in collaboration with the Port Ludlow Village Council (PLVC) and the PLVC Utilities Committee.
Here’s a brief overview of some of the topics we’ll cover:
- Addressing Brown Water Issues: Over recent months, there has been considerable discussion regarding brown water. After thorough research, we have identified a process called Ice Pigging, which uses an ice slurry to clean the inside of water mains. This innovative technique has shown promising results in other areas, with improvements lasting for years.
- We will be requesting approval from the Washington Utilities & Transportation Commission (UTC) for a one-year surcharge to help fund this procedure. The total cost is $325,000, with $227,500 to be covered by the surcharge—equating to $128.46 (or $21.41 per billing) per household. We are targeting late summer or early fall of 2025 for implementation.
- Water rate increase: We plan to work with the WA UTC to propose a water rate increase effective in 2025. This adjustment is necessary to manage rising operational costs and ongoing repairs.
- Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrades: We are in the early stages of planning upgrades to the Wastewater Treatment Plant. Once we have more information, we’ll provide further updates.
We’re proud to share that our team at Olympic Water & Sewer was recently honored with the Outstanding Performance Award by the WA Department of Ecology, in recognition of our dedication to compliance and regulatory excellence.
We encourage you to join us at the Townhall to learn more and ask any questions you may have. For those unable to attend, a recording of the presentation will be available on our website afterward: https://ows-inc.com.
Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to seeing you on October 31st!
Sincerely,
Jason White
