Olympic Water & Sewer Inc. Receives Ecology’s Outstanding Performance Award
Port Ludlow, WA – August 15, 2024 – Olympic Water & Sewer Inc. (OWSI), the water and wastewater utility serving the Port Ludlow Master Planned Resort (MPR), is proud to announce that it has been recognized with Washington State Department of Ecology’s Outstanding Performance Award for its exemplary operation of the Port Ludlow Wastewater Treatment Plant.
This award, presented to only 118 of the state’s 300+ wastewater treatment plants, recognizes facilities that have achieved excellent compliance with their water quality permits. Olympic Water & Sewer’s recognition is particularly significant as one of only three awardees in Jefferson County.
“Wastewater treatment plants provide a critical service to our communities, and yet we often don’t think about wastewater unless something goes wrong,” said Vince McGowan, Ecology’s Water Quality Program Manager. “While the work of wastewater treatment operators is often out of the public view, they deserve a very public ‘thank you’ for their hard work in serving their communities and protecting water quality.”
To determine the awardees, the Department of Ecology evaluated wastewater treatment plants across Washington on strict permit conditions. These included consistently meeting numeric effluent limits, conducting required monitoring, and accurately reporting data.

It highlights the critical, behind-the-scenes work our team does every day to ensure that Port Ludlow remains a place where both residents and the environment can thrive.
